About me

Born on June 3rd 1986, I have always been an avid gamer. From my first computer, an Atari ST, all the way to the current generation XBox 360 and PC gaming platform I have maintained a healthy gaming lifestyle with a keen interest in various genres including first-person shooter, role-playing and strategy games.

Internet background

In 2001 my interest in internet technology spurred me in to exploring web site design and development when, at the age of 14 I taught myself HTML, CSS and learnt primitive techniques in Photoshop. By August 2001 I had launched my first widely accepted web site focusing on content for a soon to be released video game, Morrowind.

By 2003, with the help of a friend, I established a gaming network, Gaming Source, that would go on to host over 60 major video gaming websites and promising game related projects serving some 2.5 million unique visitors monthly. I dropped my involvement in Gaming Source in 2007 to explore my own web projects and expand on my highly successful Morrowind and Oblivion project, TESNexus.

Towards the end of 2008 I launched my second project, Fallout 3 Nexus that quickly established itself within the gaming community. A year later in November 2009 I released my third project, Dragon Age Nexus. Together all my projects bring in over 5.3 million unique visitors each month serving 45.6 million page views with a membership base of over 1.4 million individuals.

Black Tree Gaming

Established in September 2007 Black Tree Gaming is the business front for Robin's projects. Each Nexus site is a self-sustaining commercial entity that generates expenses and revenues that need to be accumulated and paid for. Black Tree Gaming provides the legal and business background for the projects that enable them to continue running while opening up several financial and professional avenues should they be necessary.

While Robin is a self-taught internet programmer he knows very little about business and in 2007 Robin changed from a Computer Science course to a Business Studies course at the University of Exeter that provided a good foundation for entrepreneurial learning. As with his web development Robin continues to learn important aspects of business practise as he goes along, and his projects have been an excellent learning experience for him.
